About Chimney Dampers
The damper in your chimney controls the flow of air and smoke that passes through the flue, reducing the risks of house fires and carbon monoxide poisoning. Located at the “throat” of the chimney inside the base, the damper is out of sight but easily accessible. A closed damper keeps the interior air in and the exterior air out.
